Our Trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

We flew to Puerto Vallarta for our annual beach vacation on Friday March 13th.  It's never fun waking up at 3:15 am to catch a 6:00 am flight, but we were rewarded by a beautiful sunrise that morning as we flew from Seattle to PV.

Here are two photos of the sunrise over Mt. Rainier.

This is Mt. Adam's in the background and Mt. St. Helens in the foreground.

Here's Dave at La Aguliera.  It's the same condo we've stayed at the past three years.

We had two friends stay with us for the first week.  Here's Kelly & Chuck.

Our condo is on a hillside, so we take several sets of steps to get down to town.  Here's Chuck & Kelly.

Before dinner we stopped by Sama for happy hour.

We alway's like to catch a performance by Miss Conception while we're there.  This years show was a Disney our guest, be our guest...

We enjoyed watching a new sport while at the beach this year.  People on a Fly Board.  Check it out.

After a day at the beach we usually go back to our place for cocktails and pool time.

Here we are with Chuck in our pool.

Here we are before going out for St. Paddy's day dinner.

This was Chuck & Marty's last night.

Dave with Marty & Chuck at the Saturday Market before they left for the airport.

Stacks of whole grain bread at the market.  He's bagging up our loaf for the week.

Flowers for sale at the market.

These Anthurium were blooming right outside our condo door.

More flowers at our condo.

Sunset from our condo.

Dave watching the sunset.

Another beautiful sunset.

This is the Pinnacle Signature building where we spent many a night watching the sunset.  They had a great happy hour, so we were there pretty much every other night.

This is the infinity pool at the Signature building.

Someone told us about these great passionfruit margarita's so that became our sunset drink.

There were cascading pools that terraced down from the infinity pool along the walkway.

After Chuck & Marty left, we spent everyday after that at the Sapphire Ocean Club.  This place was completely remodeled from when we were there last year.  We loved the addition of the pool, which we used several times a day.

Here we are lounging in our beach chairs.

We both got leg massages from Fortino.  He comes by and visits with us everyday.

Yet more pictures of us relaxing at Sapphire.

Here we are with our favorite waiter Martin.  We sit in his section everyday and he's been taking good care of us for years.

One of our last days we did a longer beach walk south of where we normally hangout.  We had never been down this far on the beach before so it was fun to explore a bit.

There were some beautiful beachside homes down here.

Looking back to the area where we normally spend our days.

Here are a few shots from "Pink Night" at The Swedes.  Pink night means cheap cosmos.

This is Archie's Wok, which is probably our favorite restaurant in PV.  We typically eat here at least twice a week.

Besides spending the day at the beach, eating at our favorite restaurants is one of the highlights of our day.  That probably has something to do with the food we have to eat while at McMurdo half the year.  Here are a few of our favorite meals.  Xochimilco Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast at No Way Jose!

Kelly's meal at Mama Rosa.  His was a chicken dish and mine (below) was shrimp in a green curry.

Our favorite new find was a little place called Ortensia Funiculi Trattoria.  There were only four tables which could seat 8 people max, but they put out some great food.  Both times we went there we had the caesar salad.  It was one of the best we've ever had and it was huge.  A great deal for the price.  Kelly enjoyed the Caprese Salad shown below.

One of our last nights there we were introduced to this great crepes place by friends Stephen & Richard.  Kelly is here with the two of them ordering our dessert for the night.

On our last night we meet some guys from St. Louis who were giving Dave a hard time about his Cubs shirt.  We ended up hanging out with them the rest of the night and we had lots of fun!  Here's Michael, Todd & Kelly.
