Doing a Master Bathroom Make-over

In April of 2009 we painted our master bathroom to the color shown here.  Although Dave loved it Kelly endured it.  We decided this spring to make some changes.  We started by removing the 7' long mirror which hung above the sinks.

Once the mirror was removed we discovered a hole in the sheet rock by the outlet and had several splotches of glue, adhesive tape and torn sheet rock to repair.  To the left are samples of six paint colors we had considered.  The green on the bottom won out.

Last weekend we made all the repairs, re-textured the wall.  We painted on Tuesday & Wednesday we hung new light fixtures, new towels and the custom framed mirrors we had made.  Here are a few photos of the process and the completed project.

Random Shots from our Trip to Indiana

Whenever we're in Goshen visiting Mom Haney we like to take walks along the Millrace Trail.  Several times during our visit we enjoyed watching this family of swans.

The city is making several improvements along the millrace.  This old abandoned building by this cool stone bridge will hopefully one day be converted into artists lofts and retail shops.

Kelly had never been to the University of Notre Dame before, so during one of our trips to South Bend we took a drive around the campus.  When we pulled in to get a view of the infamous football stadium, we also got treated to our first ever view of a Tesla S.  This cool new electric vehicle was recently named Automobile Magazine's car of the year.

Here's a shot of the Notre Dame Library.  The artwork of Jesus is visible from inside the stadium and is commonly referred to as "Touchdown Jesus" as it appears above the north goalpost.

Mom Haney was told by her cardiologist last year that she should avoid going up and down stairs.  Rather than have her move to a single story place, we decided if she bought a stair lift she could remain in her current condo.  After purchasing this stair lift unit from AmeriGlide, we had to install it.  It was no easy task, but after 12 hours and several phone calls to AmeriGlide for support we got the installation completed.

Here's a video of Mom Haney's test ride on her stair lift.

The day before we left for home we finally got to use the pool at Mom Haney's.  Carter and Hannah came over to go for a quick swim with us.

Visiting Family in Indianapolis

We left bright and early Friday June 7th and drove Mom Haney to her Cochlear appointment in Indy.  We spent the afternoon with our Niece Megan and her family.  Here's Bennett swinging at a nearby park.

Niece Alison and her family came over for dinner at Megan's.  Here are some photos of the kids playing.

Saturday morning we went to Josh's baseball game.  Here he is playing left field.

Here we are with Micah.

Josh had a large following at the game...Lynn, Ron, Jan, Trysha, Micah, Judy, Mom Haney and Kelly.

That afternoon was Micah's game.  Here he is concentrating on the ball.

Micah watches a high pitch.

Here's Micah running to home plate to score a run.

After the games we went downtown to where our Nephew Rob was manning a booth for his Church at the Indianapolis Gay Pride event.

Micah was watching people try to kick a woman's shoe to see how far he could get it.  He thought it looked easy and that he could do a better job than the people he was watching so we all went down to give it a try.  As shown in this video, he soon found out it wasn't easy at all.

Here's Kelly's attempt...he did so bad he had to do it twice.

Micah made a second attempt and didn't really do much better.

Josh did the best of all of us, which makes his video really short.

Our First Visit to Saugatuck, MI

From Chicago we drove to Mt. Morris, IL where we spent two nights visiting with Steve & Ginny, Dave's Brother and Sister-in-law.  On Monday June 3rd we drove to Saugatuck, MI where we rented a beach house with Brad & Cindy Gilbert.
The beach house was a bit basic, but it served it purpose and was one of the few houses to sit right on the beach.

Kelly took this panoramic shot of the view from the cabin.

To get to the house we had to walk down a set of 77 steps from the road above.

We had some great weather during our stay, which was perfect for doing a lot of beach walks along Lake Michigan.

Here are Brad & Cindy enjoying a few refreshments on the beach.

Kelly is in relaxation mode.

Dave's pretty relaxed too.

Here we all are at the Lake Michigan beach house.

A nice sunset on Lake Michigan.

Tuesday morning Brad had to do a little work before we went to town for breakfast.

Spenser and Delaney joined us for the second night.  Here's Kelly with the Gilbert Clan on the beach.

Kelly, Brad & Spenser gathered around what we called the cell tower.  Phone reception wasn't good here, but once they got a signal on the beach, they planted a used bottle rocket in the sand to mark the spot.

Here's the group climbing the steps to head into town.
