A Trip to Chicago

Wednesday morning we drove to Chicago for a Cubs game. It was an afternoon game and we'd had hopes of enjoying a sunny day in the bleachers, but the two cloudy days we've had since we've been here were the days spent in Chicago. The Weather Channel was calling for thunderstorms and Tuesday's game was called in the sixth inning due to rain, so we were fortunate that we only had clouds.

We stayed at a hotel about 1/2 a mile south of Wrigley Field so we were able to walk to the game.

Our friend Randy Thompson was in town for his niece's graduation and he decided to join us for the game. The game started at 1:20, but we met Randy at 11:30 at Murphy's Bleachers, a bar across the street from Wrigley for a few pre-game beers. We went to Harry Caray's Tavern after the game for a post game pint.

We were happy that Reed Johnson was playing. He's one of our favorite players.

We were sitting in the right field bleachers and eventually were able to sit in the front row.
