Pole Pedal Paddle

Saturday the 16th was Bend's annual six event relay race Pole Pedal Paddle.

Participants ski down Mt. Bachelor, cross country ski for 8K, bike 22 miles to Bend, run a 10K course, kayak or canoe a 1-1/2 mile course and then sprint to the finish line at the Les Schwab Amphitheatre.

The bikers ride by our subdivision and the runners turn around at the entrance to our subdivision, so we can sit out front and watch two events pass by right outside our house. There are numerous divisions from people doing the whole thing themselves, to pairs, multi-person teams or families.
This is the point where the runners go by on the trail through our subdivision.
Our friend Norman came over and spent race day with us.

Here, Kelly & Norman see something exciting coming up the trail!
Dave is enjoying the race on what was a beautiful spring day.
Later in the afternoon we went to the Amphitheatre to hang out and watch some of the racers come in.
It's a party atmosphere with many people coming out to enjoy the day.
