Ohope Beach, New Zealand

Yesterday we left Rotorua and drove to the town of Whakatane on the east coast. The weather was suppose to be good for the next few days, so we drove 5 kilometers south to the small community of Ohope Beach.

After checking out two different places we found accommodations that we still feel just can't be beat and this is a photo of our view.

We got a two bedroom place with windows and doors along the entire ocean side. The beach is directly across the road and after looking at everything else in the area, we do feel we got the best deal around.

This is a view of Ohope Beach at low tide.

Here's Kelly sitting outside our room. The door to the left is our bedroom and the double doors to the right is our living room.

Flowers along the beach.

This afternoon we hiked over a hill to a small beach in a secluded bay. This is a view of our beach from up on the hill. Our place is pretty much right in the middle of the photo.
You can see some surfers in the bottom right of the photo. That's the area which is popular for surfing.
