Waste Barn Party

Last weekend was the Waste Barn party. It's one of our favorite parties of the year since our favorite band Porn Spill is the featured band.

Prior to the party we had dinner and drinks with a group of friends. Here's Kelly with Tracy, Sharon, Rich , Patty & Liz heading up to the party.

Our Cargo Shift Photos

The other night we took advantage of having everyone on our shift at work so we got some photos.

Here we are on Frosty Boy, one of our Cat loaders.

Here we are on the stairs that go from our offices to the cargo yard.
In order from left to right in the first row we have Stephana, Gift, Melanie, Matt, Mandy, Will, Nate & Tony.
The second row starts out with Kelly, LaDon, Steve, Dave, Andrew, Robert, Eric & Chris.

Mass & Maag

Saturday night we had Mass behind the Chapel. Whenever our friend Bella is in town we have Mass and for some reason or other she's the "Pope".

This is just an excuse for us to get together for drinks and to see friends we don't always see all that often.

Here's Kelly & Bella (the Pope)

Later in the evening we went to Maag, which is McMurdo's Alternative Art Gathering. There were a lot of unique displays of art to check out. Here Robin is doing a live artistic performance.

U.S.A vs New Zealand Rugby Match

Last weekend was the rugby match between the Americans and the Kiwis. We had numerous friends playing from our shift at work, so we got up early to watch the game.

We had to get up at 1:30 PM to make it to the field by 2:30 for the start of the game.

Once again the Kiwis won by a score of 8 to 0, but we came very close to scoring twice this year. It was a great game and worth getting up for.

Here's Kelly, Jen & Susie at the game.

McMurdo Station's Icestock Music Festival

Even though the sign here shows Icestock as being on New Years Day it was actually on New Years Eve and for the first time was held at night.

This worked out great for us since we're on the night shift now. Instead of starting at noon as in previous seasons it was held from 6:30 pm until 12:30 am (so actually a 1/2 hour of it was in 2009).

We'd had beautiful sunny warm (30's) weather for weeks prior to Icestock. Even the morning of the 30th we went for a walk since it was such nice weather. But when we woke up that afternoon the winds had picked up and it was cold, as Icestock tends to be.

After heading over the first time we had to go back to our room to put on more cloths. We also needed a few warm up breaks, but we had a great time listening to the music of seven bands and hanging out with our friends.

Our friend & co-worker Chris Evans played guitar for one of the bands.
