USAF first Night Vision Goggle landing in Antarctica

September 11th about midnight the NVG flight landed. Pretty cool stuff landing on the ice runway using reflectors and night vision goggles.

Dave behind the aircraft being MC1. The other guys inside are the USAF load masters.

Dave and Kelly assisting the download of cargo.

Engines running and snow blowing.

Heading to Antarctica

September 4th we boarded the C-17 for the 5 hour flight to McMurdo Station Antarctica.
This is a shot looking toward the tail of the plane and the cargo.
Somewhere over the Continent.

Brief time in Christchurch

We arrived in Christchurch the morning of September 2nd. After we checked into the hotel we walked around town and went to our favorite Souvlaki place for lunch.

These are photos of Cathedral Square in the center of Christchurch taken from our hotel room.
