Crater Lake

Jan & Charlie enjoying the view from the crater rim

Thursday the 22nd, we drove to Crater Lake National Park. The lake was formed about 7,000 years ago when the Volcano Mt. Mazama erupted and collapsed. The lake is 6 miles wide and 1,932 ft. deep, the deepest lake in the United States. Since the lake is so deep it absorbs every color of the spectrum except for blue, which it reflects back causing the incredible color of the lake. We never get tired of showing friends and family this beautiful site.
